The overall aim of the I.S.C. is to continue developing and expanding the use of cryosurgery around the world.

A major world congress with a wide-ranging scientific programme covering all areas of cryosurgery and cryobiology is held
every second year (autumn) in a different continent. The Society also grants special awards to young researchers for significant achievements.
Besides its main meeting, ISC has taken up regional activities and meetings in Europe, Mediterranean, Asia, Australasia
& Pacific, North America, South America and
Africa.
These meetings are organised by members of the ISC
Board who are stationed in the respective continent. So far they included "Cryosurgery in the Americas" (Montreal),
"Cryosurgery in the treatment of cancer" (Corfu) and
the 4th annual meeting of the Association of British and Irish Cryosurgery
(ABIC) in Crewe.
